Cross-country racing at Sea Otter is
en Fuego (“on fire”).
Fuego is the fire and passion inside each cross-country rider during long hours of training. It’s the sensation in your muscles when you push your body to the limit. It’s the spark that ignites with the crack of the starting pistol and the flame that abides after you cross the finish line.
The Sea Otter Fuego tests racers by the fire of the Fort Ord National Monument’s rolling hills and gravel trails. The itinerary includes three race distances: Short, 40k, and 80k.
Fuego XC 40kThe boiling point is set at 40 kilometers for this course loaded with sandy climbs, flowing singletrack, and gravel grinding within Fort Ord’s diverse habitat and beautiful landscape. This wave start race starts at Sea Otter Bridge, climbs the “Corkscrew,” and ends at the Tire Bridge, refining rookie riders into seasoned vets along the way.
